A photodocumentary by Nick Sidle

KFOR and Kosovo +25

Introduction to the exhibition

A photodocumentary by Nick Sidle to commemorate the 25th anniversary of KFOR, the NATO led international peacekeeping force and the Kosovo conflict.

Produced in partnership with Heartstone and funded by Heritage Lottery Fund, KFOR and Kosovo +25 includes over 50 photographs produced by photojournalist, Nick Sidle in the operation’s early stages. Nick was embedded with several units and individual regiments from the United Kingdom and the United States including The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. The photographs provide a unique insight into the work of the peacekeepers but also highlight the human stories of the people of Kosovo and the need for such an intervention to take place so they could safeguard lives and homes, and help rebuild ordinary life in what were extraordinary circumstances. It also provides a summary of the regiments involvement in the operation as well as tell the stories of those Fusiliers involved and the refugees who fled to Manchester to set up home.

KFOR and Kosovo +25 is the first staging in the North of England after previously being on display at The Fusilier Museum in the Tower of London and The National Museum of Kosovo.
