Sketches from the trenches is a unique collection of sketches by 2nd Lieutenant Noel Whittles of The Lancashire Fusiliers who served in the trenches during the First World War. The harsh realities of life in the trenches has been captured in this collection of sketches using humour to cope with the difficulties they faced.

This collection has kindly been loaned to the museum by Noel's grandson David Burrows along with service records and family images.
